YOGA COURSE IN INDIA-GOA

with Stéphanie Viu-Kessler
20 Oct 2024 - 27 Oct 2024 (8 days)

Goa, a vibrant state on India's southwest coast, is rich in history and culture, having been a Portuguese colony until it was reclaimed by India in 1961. Among its many treasures, Mandrem stands out as a serene coastal village in North Goa, just 21 km from the state capital, Panaji. Known for its pristine white sand and clear waters, Mandrem Beach is a peaceful retreat nestled between the twin beaches of Morjim and Arambol. Its tranquility and natural beauty make it a popular destination for tourists seeking a calm and reflective environment. Mandrem is also recognized as a sea turtle nesting site, adding to its ecological significance. For many, like myself, Mandrem offers the perfect introduction to India, blending the country's rich heritage with the calming influence of yoga. My first experience with India was here in 2011, during a yoga training with Gérard Arnaud. Starting my Indian journey in Goa was a gentle and enriching experience, offering a soft landing into the vibrant culture of India. For those looking to explore India for the first time, Goa, with its tranquil beaches and cultural depth, provides the ideal gateway.

YOGA COURSE IN INDIA-GOA Teacher

About the Teacher

With a lifelong passion for sports and writing, I inherited a love for physical activity from my father, who practiced gymnastics every morning, even during his battle with Alzheimer's. My journey into yoga began over twenty years ago, but it was meeting Gérard Arnaud that ignited my desire to train professionally. My career path has been diverse, starting as a secretary in the early 90s, then moving into IT in Montreal, where I discovered Bikram and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Returning to France, I worked as a network administrator but soon felt a deep weariness for office life, leading me to train in the Pilates Method.

Pilates opened the door to yoga, and Gérard Arnaud became a pivotal influence. My love for yoga led me to India, where I founded a yoga school in the suburbs of Mysore, running it for four years before moving on to teach across Asia. My training spans from Vinyasa and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga to Yoga Thai Massage, with additional courses under teachers like David Swenson and John Scott. While my practice has evolved from rigorous Ashtanga to a more breath-focused Hatha Yoga tradition, the discipline and benefits of movement remain central to my life. Namaste!

The course is limited to 15 people.

As much as possible, book your plane ticket early enough to benefit from the best rates. Direct flights to Goa do not exist. You will have to go through New Delhi or Bangalore. Note that going through New Delhi at immigration is easier than going through Bangalore. The flight you will take to go to Goa is an internal flight, the weight limit for the suitcase is 15 kilos (versus 25 or 30 on the main lines). Be careful not to overload your suitcase as soon as you leave.

There is no mandatory vaccination for India.

The place that welcomes us is  Nalanda Retreats . It is located in Mandrem. You will have the opportunity to take massages and discover Ayurveda.

Accommodation is in single or shared rooms depending on your choice.
