Prithvi Shala represents the grounding and stabilising energy of the earth element. It is the only shala situated directly on the ground, offering a strong sense of connection, support, and physical presence. This shala is commonly used for dance retreats, movement workshops, and practices that emphasise embodiment, strength, and rootedness.
Located at the back of the resort near the Luna Pool and beside the Royal Villa, Prithvi Shala provides a quiet and contained space where participants can move freely while feeling held by the surroundings. Its grounded location makes it ideal for creative expression and practices that require stability and space.
Jal Shala embodies the fluid and reflective nature of the water element. As the shala closest to the sea, it carries a natural sense of flow, softness, and emotional release. The gentle sound of the ocean and the proximity to water create an environment that supports slow, meditative practices, restorative yoga, and contemplative movement.
Situated above the main Chakra building and beside the Soma Pool on the right side, Jal Shala is well suited for sessions that invite surrender, adaptability, and inner listening. It offers a serene setting where breath and movement can mirror the rhythmic quality of water.
Agni Shala represents the transformative and energising quality of the fire element. This shala receives the most sunlight throughout the day, naturally warming the space and activating the body and mind. It is an ideal setting for dynamic practices, strong asana classes, and sessions that focus on building heat, discipline, and inner strength.
Located above the double-level Chakra building, next to the Luna Pool, Agni Shala supports practices that encourage vitality, focus, and transformation. The brightness and warmth of this space align with the catalytic energy of fire, making it a powerful container for active and purposeful movement.
Vayu Shala reflects the lightness, movement, and expansiveness of the air element. Known for catching the most breeze, this shala offers a refreshing and open atmosphere that supports breathwork, pranayama, and flowing yoga practices.
Positioned above the main Chakra building next to the Soma Pool on the left side, Vayu Shala allows practitioners to experience the natural movement of air during practice. The constant circulation enhances clarity, openness, and ease, making it especially suitable for sessions focused on breath, mobility, and nervous system balance.
Akasha Shala represents the element of space, openness, and subtle awareness. As the highest and largest practice spaces at Nalanda, Akasha Shala 1 and 2 offer an expansive environment ideal for larger groups, teacher trainings, immersive retreats, and deep meditative practices.
Located above the Standard Room building towards the reception area, these shalas provide a sense of elevation and spaciousness, both physically and energetically. The openness of Akasha Shala encourages stillness, observation, and a deeper connection to awareness itself, making it well-suited for philosophy sessions, meditation, and integrative practices.
Dome Shala carries a sense of resonance, containment, and inward focus. Its domed structure naturally enhances sound, creating an immersive environment ideal for sound healing, chanting, breathwork, and meditative practices.
Located on the way from the Hillside Heritage rooms towards the reception area, it offers a grounded and enclosed space that encourages slowing down and turning inward. The architecture holds both sound and energy within, making it especially suited for restorative sessions, yoga nidra, and practices that invite stillness, depth, and subtle awareness.
