Sustainability
Eco-conscious luxury that preserves the Goan ecosystem.
A wellness retreat that does not look after its own stretch of coast is not really well. We try to leave Mandrem better than we found it.
The land first
Our architecture flows with the land rather than flattening it. Native planting, natural cross-ventilation, and shade do the work that air-conditioning would elsewhere.
Food from the earth
Chia Lounge cooks fresh, local, and plant-forward, sourcing from nearby growers and the kitchen garden. Less transported, less wasted, more in season.
Water & energy
Rainwater harvesting, careful water reuse, and a steady shift toward solar reduce what we draw from a coastline that cannot spare it.
Less plastic
Filtered water in glass, refillable amenities, and a standing effort to remove single-use plastic from the guest experience.
The community
We hire locally, work with Goan artisans and suppliers, and keep as much of what Nalanda spends as we can within Mandrem.
A quiet beach, kept quiet
Part of preserving the Goan ecosystem is protecting the calm of one of its last quiet beaches , for the wildlife and the people who live here.
This is ongoing work, not a finished badge. We would rather show what we are doing and where we still have distance to travel than claim more than we have earned.
